OpenAsset was the solution that did everything we wanted. We could store images and digital files in simple categories of our choosing, we could search the entire system if necessary to find an image and, crucially, we could drop images into presentations with ease.

AssetBar - Drag & Drop

See the AssetBar in action in our document creation demo.

Automatically re-sizing images and inserting them into a document template is a real time saver, but what if you need to link to an original file or download the high res version? To answer these questions we developed the AssetBar drag and drop feature.

For graphic designers or other people who create documents for print, the AssetBar within OpenAsset is a real time saver. Selected images appear in a floating window and you can simply drag and drop to your chosen page make-up or design application. You can pre-select the resolution you require depending on how the document will eventually be produced.

Linking Images

By dragging and dropping from the AssetBar into Adobe InDesign, and QuarkXpress images are linked to the original file on the server. Once logged into OpenAsset images cannot be moved or filenames changed. This means any links you create to images in OpenAsset will be unbreakable.

Different sizes of images are only created when the user requests them. For example if you select an Asset State for 'Printing' and this does not actually exist the following dialogue box will appear:

OpenAsset only generates files when they are needed for use. This ensures your storage is optimized and once the image is re-sized only one copy exists for everyone to link to.

The AssetBar works with the following applications:

    • Adobe InDesign CS
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Publisher
    • 3D Studio Max
    • QuarkXPress
